Your underwear shouldn't give you muffin top and other reasons I've jumped on the get healthy train

Real talk:

Homegirl used to look like this

Photobucket
Did I try and choose the most ridiculous pictures I could find just for your enjoyment? Yes I did.
I'm such a good blogger friend;)

But seriously. I was getting tired of feeling uncomfortable in clothes and it was time to do something about it.

Today I'm linking up with Kristin from All in my Twenties and Raven from Don't Quote The Raven for their Inspire me Healthy Thursdays.
Photobucket
It's just a start, but I've been eating a smoothie (with fruit!) every morning and running too. It's not very far and it's not for very long, but it's something and I'm only going to get better from here.

I've also been making an effort to avoid fast food (still going strong on this one! Not one drive thru this week!) and to have at least one vegetable with dinner. So far so good!

I'll definitely be back with pictures, but this was a spur of the moment post decision;)

 Until next week:)

An aniversary and crafting post

September 9th is coming soon!
Who cares?
Me! And that one guy I like to call my boyfriend does too.
(Don't worry, he totally reciprocates and calls me his girlfriend. Unlike the boys I called my "boyfriend" in 3rd grade. Their loss;))

Which reminds me.
Is 22 the year that old boyfriends are supposed to write on your wall for your birthday?
I kid you not, no less than FOUR of them did.

SEE!

Wait, jk, timeline hates me. Which is fine because I hate it back and have possibly said some nasty things about it behind its back.

Just take my word for it on the ex-boyfriends feeling the need to spread the birthday love.

Anyway, back to anniversaries....

Mine and Matt's is coming up and I've been searching pinteresting to see what I could get him.

Obviously I came across this ever popular pin

Photobucket

and checked it out.
$65?! Are you kidding me?!
So I tried my hand at it using the MyMemories Suite I won at my girl Alana's blog, Life & Times.

Photobucket
What do ya think? Pretty close, right?!
I had it printed on an 8x10 and framed it in one I found at Hobby Lobby.

Photobucket Photobucket

I'm excited to start working on the second 1/2 of his present so I can show you guys:)

Happy Crafting!

Bushed and a Moral

Ohhhhh Monday, you're such a killer.
Sometimes I wish we could just skip to Tuesday, but then that day would suck too.
Such is life.

Anyway, today I have to share a hilarious story that happened to me this weekend.

Matt & I were playing Apples to Apples with his parents Friday night (after our steak dinner and while drinking yummy wine!)

Now if you don't know how to play the game- there's a catagory card such as "interesting" or "irritating" and everyone has 5 cards in their hand that they can choose from to match the category. They pick one and lay it face down on the table. The category picker then reads all of the answers and  chooses a winner, it could be anything they liked that made them laugh, or was the most literal.

Picture it:
The category is "Disgusting" and Matt's dad is the Category Master for this round.

The answer choices we "played" were:
Earwigs
Brazillian Wax
Political Parties

I kid you not, he says "Well if brazillian waxes are what I think they are, they win because those are disgusting. I like a little bush, not a hairless dog!"

::dead::
Literally dead.
Like I can't even go on.

So freaking funny the differences between generations!

And to impart a little wisdom on you, my bloggy friends,
my moral of the story is this:
Don't play games with your boyfriend's parents that involve awkward subjects like Brazillian Waxes.

That is all.

Pleaseee learn from my mistakes! Or don't, I'd love to hear your awkward parent stories too ;)

Popped My Cherry

of the getting my first ever
BIG GIRL JOB variety!!

Gotcha and your dirty minds;)

So for future reference,
I won't mind being addressed as
Ms. After School Program Director Mallory
hereon after;)

Just kidding.
Buuuuuut seriously,
I have a job.
It's only part time right now, but I can use the hours towards getting my certification and I'll be able to sub on the days that a teacher is out.

Talk about being relieved. I'm so so glad this job landed in my lap just at the right time. I can't wait to get started!

Happy Thursday, Ladies!
I'll be out celebrating with Matt by getting dinner and drinks:)

Why I don't like to wear pants

Pants. Who needs 'em?
Oh, just about everybody in the world, you say?
LIAR! I say.

Pause for a qualification on what I consider "pants"

Pants: anything that squeezes too tight, loosens up considerably throughout the day, causes you to constantly check to make sure your underwear/butt aren't hanging out for the world to see, or generally causes you discomfort throughout the day.
note* yoga pants do not fall into this category.

return for argument on why pants are stupid
(written like a 3rd grade essay)

I do not like to wear pants and I am going to tell you three reasons why. They are uncomfortable, skirts are cooler, and yoga pants give you confidence.
First, pants are uncomfortable.  Many pairs of jeans equate to adjusting and tugging and pulling alllllll day long. All anyone wants to do at the end of the day is change out of their pants, anyway.
Secondly, skirts are much more awesome-er.  They instantly dress up a day without even trying and you don't have to worry about that pesky belly pooch. win/win.
Finally, yoga pants are fantastic enough to give you that "curve hugging" look everyone struggles to find (without the attached love handles of course) but also allow you to bend down and hug small children (or steal their candy) when occasion demands it.
In  conclusion, I think the world should stop requiring pants. There are plenty of other options out there that should be a good enough substitute.

Essay based off of this research:

An award winning essay, no?
I'm guessing Miley Cyrus read it....
So it must be the way to go, right?;)

Anyone joining me in my no pants glory?:)

Things I don't scrimp on

There are certain things where you just have to suck it up and spend the extra money on to get the brand name. Now, I'm a huge fan of saving a few bucks if the time calls for it, but for some reason I just can not bring myself to go generic for!

1. Mascara
I love love love lashes and have been known to use up to 4 different kinds at once. I'm a huge believer that just putting mascara on means you can step out of the house with confidence!
Photobucket

2. Tissues
Um anyone else with allergies feel me on this one?? Once Spring and Summer are here, it's hello sneezy.  I need some nice tissues to keep my nose not Rudolph Red!
Puffs Plus Lotion is where it's at!

Photobucket
3. Bras
Hellooooooo Victoria Secret. I'm obsessed (putting it mildly), but also enjoy Aerie & Gilly Hicks bras in a pinch. I feel like any other brand I've tried has fallen apart or become stretched out/uncomfortable much quicker than my beloved VS ones.
Photobucket

4. Peanut Butter
I'm a Jif girl at heart. None of this Peter Pan or Skippy stuff:P

Photobucket
5. Spaghetti Sauce
Prego all the way, baby! Ragu is just not gonna cut it for me.

Photobucket

6. Gym Shoes
I like my Nike shoes, not just any "tennis shoe".
Photobucket

7. Shampoo/ Conditioner
Biolage! It saved my hair after I went away to college.
You mean teasing, ratting, straightening, and drinking tons of alcohol isn't good for your hair?? Who knew?!

Photobucket

 8. Toilet Paper
I once made the mistake once of letting Matt pick up toilet paper for my apartment and he brought over industrial toliet paper they use in schools and fast food places.
*shudder*
Photobucket
And since we're in the spirit...

Things I could care less about

Gasoline
I am not brand loyal. If I can save a few pennies on gas, you can bet your sweet ass I'll be over at the station with the lowest price!

Nail Polish
None of this $8 polish stuff. I don't paint my nails enough to even get through an entire bottle before it goes bad so I like to stick with the $0.99 ones!

Sunglasses
Designer sunglasses? Hardly.
This girl has gone through 4 pairs already this summer. Yes FOUR.
Oops.

Isn't it funny what different people prefer? I know some people who refuse to use cheap nail polish but could care less about shampoo and conditioner.

What can/can't you live without? :)

A Grab Bag Post

There are a ton of things I've been meaning to share.  Like 5393546 million things. So I'm going to dump all 5393546 million on you in this post.
Ready?
Go.

1. I've been 22 for 12 days now.  It was a pretty good birthday where I went out to lunch, bowling, dinner at the Cheesecake Factory, and was surprised to tears when I came home that night to a flower delivery from my bestie Heather who is in DC right now.
Our text messages went a little like this:
Photobucket
And the Happy Birthday Cheesecake:

2. I'm tumblr famous. Does anyone have one of these? They're like a poor man's blogger;) (No offense to anyone who has one!) But a girl in my sorority posted in our Facebook Group about how one of our pictures was stolen off of facebook/ our Chi-O website and posted on Tumblr. I'm choosing to be flattered that they liked our Open House theme so much:)
Photobucket

3. Matt and I took 2 "nephews" of mine to the Sox game last Wednesday. Our first inning was super exciting-broken bats and a foul ball 2 seat away! But we eventually ended up losing:(
Photobucket
John  & Cole enjoying the game:)

Photobucket

4. And a collection of eCards that have cracked me up this week!
Enjoy:)

Photobucket

And this last one isn't an eCard, but it's still hilarious

5. OMG MILEY CYRUS' NEW HAIRCUT.
barf.

That is all.
Happy Monday:)

Am I a Liar?

Yes, yes I am!

1. I have ridden a mechanical bull.
100% True!! At school there is a bar that hosts "Country Night" on Tuesdays and every other week had a mechanical bull there for everyone to ride.
I only made it like 2 seconds (It's way harder than it looks!) but it was definitely an experience;)
I'll have to see if I can dig up the video!
2. Some of the clothing in my closet is from the kids department.
This one is true too! I can somtimes fit into kids size shoes (size 6!) and can usually fit into a kids XL. It's so much nicer to pay their prices than the extra $10 for the adult shirt that says S!
It doesn't always work out, but for tshirts and the like, it's definitely saved me a few bucks:)

3. I have had braces.
Never Have I Ever.....had braces. I have had one tooth pulled because the adult one came up in a crazy spot, but otherwise, no dental work for me.
Not even a cavity! (Which is amazing considering the amount of crap I ate in my younger years)

So that's that. I'm a liar, but I promise it's only for the fun of the game;)

Two Truths & A Lie Link-up!

Well hello again!
I know I've been missing 'round these parts, but that's because my computer zonked out on me again! But don't worry, I put my flirty pants on yesterday and scored myself a new computer $200 cheaper than what they were trying to sell it to me for! Woo!

Whoa. There's so many exclaimation points in that first paragraph my weekly quota is probably all used up.
Sorry boutcha;)

Anywho, Two Truths & A Lie Link-Up is today!!
So onto the good stuff,

1. I have ridden a mechanical bull.
2. Some of the clothing in my closet is from the kids department.
3. I have had braces.

Which one do you think is true?:)
