Blah.

Blah.

I feel very blah today.

I totally forgot that I had class this morning when I was all excited about being off from my internship for the day. Who just forgets that?!

Apparently, this girl.
Oh well. Nothing to do but move on and do better next time.

In other news, this is what my Spring Break looked like!

Matt and I went to dinner on Tuesday at Texas Roadhouse. I had steak and cheese fries:) ::nomnomnom::

There was a little working mixed in,
That's definitely my legs under a batman blanket. Our office air conditioner broke while it was set on 60 so it was abso-freaking-lutely freezing. ::Insert frantic search for blanket here::
Only in my life would this happen.

On Friday,
we almost died in a storm all in the name of chinese food. Totally worth it.

We watched the footloose remake while eating the almost-killer chinese food.
You guys. I am in LOVE!
They made the characters so loveable and we had a great time at our "girls night viewing party".

And on Saturday, Matt went with me to babysit.

Somebody's tryin' to steal my man!
When we first got there, Sadie would turn about periodically give him evil looks and then turn around to her show again. About a half hour after we were there, Matt and I were talking on the couch and Sadie snuck up to Matt's side and reached out to his arm and said "tickle tickle!" while "tickling" his arm.
::dies::

It was seriously the cutest thing ever. After that it was a game for an hour and Sadie had no fear climbing up into his lap and chilling to watch Mickey Mouse Clubhouse;)

And on Sunday I came back down to school. It was an awesome week and I can't to be back home for good in just 7 more weeks!

As for my TFA interview,
I think it went pretty well!
It was my first "big kid" interview and all in all, it wasn't too bad. Definitely a lot less stressful than I was thinking.
Thank you so so much for all of the good luck wishes! You guys are the bomb dot com.

I should hear back by April 13th so I'll definitely update you fabulous ladies then:)

Wish me Luck!

Today is a very important date.

Teach For America interview time!
Today I'll be participating in a group interview with a 5 minute sample teaching lesson, and a group activity.
Later I will go on a one on one interview and I should hear if I was accepted within the next month.

It's a lot to plan for. It's a lot to hope for.
I'm so ready.

Here is a picture of my "teaching materials"
We're going to learn about inequalities! Hopefully it goes well:)

And here's what I'm wearing today
Thanks to the g-parents for the lovely blazer I'm wearing. It was an early Easter Bunny present:)

I'll definitely be back tomorrow to tell you guys about how it went and about my spring break!

Happy Tuesday!

Say Whaaa?

Tuesday I came home to this jenky note sitting on our kitchen table:

Woo for hardwood floors! Boo for having to move ALL OF THE FURNITURE.

I'm sustained 3, count 'em, one, two, THREE stubbed toes in the process. I gave up. I had to go to bed to save my poor tootsies!
And do they not realize it's midterm week?! Apparently not.
Also, why do they feel the need to come at 8 AM the only day I get to sleep in this week?
grrrr.

But I suppose I don't have anything to complain about because look what I got in an email yesterday afternoon:

Why yes, yes that does say that I have a final interview for Teach for America!! :):)
I'm beyond thrilled and I can't tell you how satisfying it is to see a dream come true right before my eyes!
Here's hoping I kick ass at the final interview!

Don't go breakin' my heart

Howdy ho, ranger Joes!

A little TFA update for you fabulous ladies:

I made it past the first round and got a phone interview!

The sad news is that if I get this job with TFA, I will have to miss our annual family vacation to Minnesota to go to the mandatory 5 week summer training course.
This vacation is literally what makes our year.

No tv.
No internet.
No air conditioning.

You're probably thinking this sounds like hell.

Doesn't this look like a postcard?!
Well I'm tellin' you, it's heaven! Seriously check out that picture up there. It was taken last year on our last night in paradise.

The "kids" waiting our turns to go tubing!
There's about 30 of us that go together and we spend all day on the lake. Tubing, skiing, knee boarding, etc. You name it, we do it:)

You ladies can see that this place is near and dear to my heart, we've been going every year since I was 3! This year would/will be my 18th year going and I'm honestly a little devastated that I might have to miss it :(

I know, I know, I should just be happy that I have a possible job, but it still kinda stinks.

I hear tonight if I made it to the final interview.
Ha, I suppose if I didn't make it, this post is a moot point!

Do you girls have any annual family vacations? Tell me all about them!

Mallory

Deep Breaths

In an effort to "keep it real" on le blog of mine, I'm going to fill you in on something I'm pretty excited about.

Last week I applied to a program called Teach for America.  Some of you may have heard of it, but if not, google it;)
I was debating back & forth about actually applying because I've heard that acceptance is a total crap shoot. They tell me that it's amazing the different caliber of people who get in over others.  I'm used to a level playing field and I'm usually one of the ones towards the top. SCARY.

I'm pretty used to getting/ achieving the things that I go after.  I've definitely been blessed in that aspect.
  • High School Cheerleading
  • Varsity Captain
  • Honors and Advanced Placement credits/classes
  • Acceptance to Purdue & U of I
You get the picture.

Now before you go thinking I'm just using this opportunity to brag, let me tell you about the time when it didn't all work out for me. Freshman year at Purdue, I went through rush and didn't end up with a bid at the end of the last weekend. All that work for nothing.  I was sad, but more in shock that something I wanted hadn't come easily to me. Shocker. But really, it was actually a good experience that impacted my life.

Whew, this post is getting long but I think that my point after all of this, was that I had to do a little soul searching and see if I was willing to be disappointed as an expense for possibly getting something I reallyyyyy want. I decided to man up and submit my application.

I should hear next Thursday if I made it to the next round of interviews.  Wish me luck! ::Pretty please with a cherry on top!::

Until then, I'll be trying to keep myself busy so I don't get too nervous! :)
